Instagram claim seller setup

For sellers who post a book, let people claim it in the comments, and settle up in DMs. Stash does not read your Instagram. What it does is take payment cleanly and keep inventory, buyers and profit straight afterwards. Checkout links need a Seller plan or above.

1. Decide what you are posting

Work from Inventory so the grade and asking price in your caption match your records. Photograph your actual copy. Claim buyers are buying the flaws as much as the book.

2. Mark it as listed

On the item, under Listed on, use Mark listed and pick Instagram. This is how you avoid selling the same copy twice: the book shows as spoken for when it comes up again.

3. Take the payment with a checkout link

On the same panel, choose Create link under “Share a checkout link”. You get a payment page for that one book. Send it to whoever claimed first.

When they pay, Stash records the sale, captures the buyer, and marks the book sold on its own. That is the whole reason to use the link rather than a payment app: the work after the sale disappears.

Checkout links need a connected Stripe account. Detail: Orders and customers.

4. Or log the sale by hand

Taking payment your own way is fine. Open the item, click Log a sale, pick Instagram, and enter the price and date. Add the buyer’s name, email and address while you have them in the DM, and what they paid you for postage.

Logging the sale closes that book’s listings on your other channels, so it stops being offered in two places at once.

5. Buy the label in the same step

With EasyPost connected, the sale dialog quotes USPS and UPS rates from the address you just entered and buys the label. The real postage cost and the tracking number land on the sale, which is what makes the profit number true.

6. Keep the buyer

Claim selling runs on regulars. Buyers who arrive with an email address build up a history: what they bought, when, and what they have spent. That is the list worth having when you post the next book.

Detail: Orders and customers.

What Stash does not do

  • It does not read your comments or DMs. Claims are yours to track in the app itself.
  • It does not post for you. The caption and the photo are your job.
  • First claim is a rule you enforce. Stash records the sale you tell it about.
