Connect your collection to ChatGPT and it can answer from your live inventory instead of guessing: what your DC books are worth, whether you own a specific issue, what you sold last month. Ten minutes, most of it waiting for a sign-in screen. Collection questions need a Collector plan or above. How-to questions work on any plan.
1. Add Stash in ChatGPT
In ChatGPT, open Settings, find Apps (called Connectors or Plugins in some versions), and add Stash Management with this address:
https://www.stashmanagement.com/api/mcp
Use the www address exactly as written. The shorter version redirects, and the redirect drops the sign-in token, which shows up later as a connector that keeps asking you to reconnect.
2. Sign in and approve
ChatGPT opens a Stash approval screen in your browser. Sign in, pick the workspace you want it to read, and approve. Reading your inventory is granted by default. Adding or changing books is a separate permission you grant deliberately.
Detail: AI connections.
3. Turn it on in the conversation
This is the step people miss. ChatGPT only uses an app that is switched on for that chat. Start a new chat, click + in the message box, and pick Stash Management. You will see it listed under the message box.
Chats inside a Project often prefer a file you uploaded earlier, so if answers look out of date, start a normal chat instead.
4. Ask it something you can check
Good first questions, because you can verify the answer yourself:
- “What is the total value of my collection?”
- “What are my DC comics worth?”
- “Do I own Amazing Spider-Man 300?”
- “What are my ten most valuable books?”
Compare the total against your Dashboard. They should match, because ChatGPT is reading the same numbers.
5. Ask it how Stash works
It can also read this help center, so “How do I import from CLZ?” or “What does Estimated mean?” gets a real answer with a link. That works on every plan, including Free.
6. Check what it did
Settings → AI connections lists every connected assistant, what it is allowed to do, when it last ran, and every request it has made. Revoking access takes one click and takes effect immediately.
Detail: Account and security.
When it says it cannot find Stash
- The app is not on for that chat. The common one. Click + and pick Stash Management, or start a fresh chat outside a Project.
- It answers from an old file instead. Tell it to use Stash rather than the attachment. A spreadsheet is a snapshot; Stash is live.
- It asks you to reconnect repeatedly. Check the address starts with
www, then remove and re-add the app. - Collection questions return an upgrade message. That is the plan gate, not a fault. How-to questions still work.
What it can see
Only the workspace you approved, and only what the permissions you granted allow. It never sees your password, your payment details, or another workspace. Every request is logged for you to read.
Claude and Cursor connect the same way: the install page has one-click setup for each.
