Stash runs in a web browser, and on iPhone through the Stash app. This page says which versions are supported, so you know whether a problem is a bug on our side or an out-of-date browser on yours.
What we support
The rule is the same everywhere: the current version, plus the two before it. That applies to each of these separately.
- Browsers. Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox. If Chrome is on version 150, then 150, 149 and 148 are supported.
- iPhone and iPad. The current model generation and the two before it.
- iOS and iPadOS. The current major version and the two before it.
- macOS and Windows. Same again: current, plus two.
Because this is written as a rule rather than a list of version numbers, it moves on its own. When Apple or Google ships a new release, the supported range shifts with it and nothing here needs rewriting.
What happens if you are outside that
Nothing blocks you. Stash will probably still work on an older browser, and you are welcome to try. What changes is that we do not test there and we cannot promise to fix problems that only happen there. If something looks broken, updating your browser is the fastest thing to rule out.
There is a second reason to stay current that has nothing to do with us. Once a browser or operating system falls out of its own maker’s support window, it stops receiving security updates from them. That affects everything you do on that device, not just Stash.
The iPhone app
The App Store enforces its own minimum iOS version, which can be higher than the rule above. If the App Store will not install Stash on your phone, that is the reason, and updating iOS is the fix.
What you need turned on
- JavaScript. Required. Stash is an application, not a set of documents, and will not load without it.
- Cookies. Required to stay signed in. If you are signed out on every page, check whether cookies are blocked for this site. Private or incognito windows usually sign you out when closed.
- A camera. Only for scanning covers in the iPhone app. Everything else works without one.
Printing
Barcode labels and pull sheets are printed from the browser, and browsers differ in how they handle margins and scaling. Print at 100% with scaling off, or the barcodes may not scan. Chrome and Safari on a desktop give the most predictable results.
Gotchas
- An old tab is not an old browser. If you have left Stash open for days, reload the page before reporting a bug. You may be running an older version of the app than the one we shipped.
- Extensions can break pages. Ad blockers and privacy extensions sometimes remove parts of the interface. If something is missing, try a private window with extensions disabled before contacting us.
- Work accounts can be locked down. A managed laptop may block cookies or scripts by policy. That is set by your IT administrator, not by us.
- Stash is in beta. Supported does not mean flawless. See the Terms of Service for what beta means and for the formal version of this support policy.
